1976 Bulova "Spirit of America"

I've been looking at these for quite some time (thanks Al); however, they usually seem to be a bit pricey. As luck would have it I found this on the bay and made the guy an offer - three days later it is on my wrist.

Here a few quick shots - I will try to take some better ones soon!

Hi Scott,

That's a real beauty you've got there. I love the red detail on the hands, it makes for a cheerful and interesting look.

What year is it and what movement did they use?

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers - Simon

Yes I like that one too, a splash of colour to brighten up your day and it looks great on the mesh.
I believe it was a Valjoux 7736 movement and is a 70's watch.
Looks like you found a good one there Scott,

Martin

AS you guys know, Alistair always seems to have great watches and I missed the one that he sold one awhile back (as well as his De Luca). I always tell my wife that it's his fault

Here's his write up on the watch

Great watch Scott, and thanks for the compliments they are thoroughly deserved and appreciated. Lol!

The watch I seem to remember was dubbed' 'Spirit of America' and was manufactured to celebrate the Montreal Olympics..... cue Emerson Lake and Palmer with Fan Fair for the Common Man!

They certainly packed the stadium out! Aaah, nostalgia.
Nice watch, btw Scott. A solid piece of 70s steel.

...and then one day you find, 10 years has got behind you, no-one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun...
