Don't get me wrong. I love my ALT1-C.

But I do have one little niggle... the PVD'd middle barrel section does seem to be a) crooked and b) slightly out of kilter. I know it's a really small thing, but I find my eye being drawn to it more and more often.

Anyone else have similar issues? Am I expecting too much? For a precision-engineered timepiece, it seems a little wonky...

My case isn't perfect.  Here's a shot between the lugs at 12 o'clock.

I tried to take a photo of a tiny "chip" in the case - the steel not the pvd.
It's always been there, I figured that when they - Bremont -  get mainstream everything will be perfect.  But these early examples are allowed a bit of slack........

Mine is fine but I guess with the early ones as Geoff says...

I have given mine some rough treatment though as it has about 8 dings looking through my loop although when a friend looked at it yesterday with the naked eye he could only find two and they were from me getting it slammed in a car door which was rather careless I know. Lol!

Al, dings don't bother me. Bits that look like they don't fit, on the other hand...!

Still trying to get a better shot. The 60mm Macro just isn't doing it at the mo, so I may have to switch to something bigger (like the 200mm f2.8) to get the shot. Just a shame that I'll need to stand in the next room to focus...

Lol!

Speak to Gary, he uses natural light and I think the same Nikon D50, Macro lens and he gets great results without extra lights.

I could do with a long lens what with the EP120 day. What do you reckon we will need to get close aerial stuff? and what is your experince with lens that are worth buying?

Al

I own 4 lenses:
- 17-40mm f4
- 60mm f2.8
- 70-300 IS f4-5.6
- 200m f2.8

Was thinking about bringing the first and last of those. Would only being the 200mm if the light were really bad, as the extra stops are quite useful. All on a 1.6x crop body, so in effect, the 70-300 is equiv to 112 - 420 (or whatever) on a full frame. Should be long enough to get anything aerial. If there'll only be ground based planes, I may rethink. The 200mm is a lovely lens. With a 2xTC, it's equivalent to a 400mm f4, which can't be bad! If I had the choice, and unlimited budget, I'd probably buy the 70-200 IS f2.8 and a 2x TC... but it's a beast. And it's white. And I don't have a monopod!

I have a similar niggle at 6 o'clock between the lugs, very small. I don't mind it too much.

No longer bothers me, either. Saw Al's Silver and Nick's Creme the other day and realised that I'm far too precious about these things!

I've been wondering how must "active" use the Bremont's on this forum have been getting. Mine has a nasty scuff mark underneath (probably caused at the beach by sand in between my wrist and the watch). It's in between the serial number and the engraved "bremont". I imagine over time dings and scuffs will happen anyways. It just hurts to always see the first one. :-P

Well I wear mine for all the hard stuff. My 'go to' watch was a Rolex Submariner but now its my ALT1-C

I was a little careless with it this Summer as I dropped it off this big rock while taking pictures for your pleasure.... still not really that much damage. I reckon they are pretty good as a rough and tumble watch. Lol!

Most wear that mine seems to be getting is on the Bremont clasp

Once I realised that these watches are built to be worn, rather than cosseted, all the potential dings and scratches suddenly seemed less important. In a perverse way, I'm quite looking forward to my first proper "ding", although I probably won't drop it off a cliff like Al...
