The site is largely for chronograph enthusiasts, but that does not mean that you cannot post about other types of watches just as long as they are interesting in their own way. Over the Christmas hols I've taken a real shining to these. Not my usually bag and as Al will tell you I know bugger all about military watches, so I won't even pretend to that I know the inspiration behind it. Basically all I know is I like it and all being well I'll have one soon.

I love the asymmetrical bead blasted case, the deep and chunky bezel and that sterile dial. Looks like it could survive just about anything.

They're available in quartz or auto, the quartz is being true to the original. So naturally I've gone for the auto, lol!

A few pics nicked from the web.

Sorry it's neither a chrono or vintage but what do you think guys?

Cheers,

Gary

Hi Gary,

I have the 300m version and having finally settled on a grey NATO strap, I am very happy with it, so its a 'Sort of OK' from me. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, but not worthy of a Stealth given the high standards of the Uber-Cool category.

Cheers

Hi Terry,

Thanks for your reply, I can't decide between the black or green nato, I'm also considering one of Al's diver straps. Guess I'll just wait until I get it and then make a decision.

I know what you mean about the high standards of the über-cool category, however I think a lot of peoples opinions seem to be swayed by a watches value. Call me stupid (and most do) but a watches attraction to me is all visual aesthetics. Yes I can appreciate a watches heritage and provenance but if it doesn't call to me, I won't buy it, it's that simple.

The PRS-18 is a homage but one that I appreciate, along with the convenience of a modern, water resistant watch.

Cheers,

Gary

Stealth from me... I really like that kind of case.

Yes I too like the case design, although the bezel/ inside the dial is quite square looking which ruins it for me....
As I have the far better looking and elegant in design (in my opinion) Benrus Type 1. The bezel and domed crystal are great looking in comparison.

Couldn't agree more Gary. If you look at my collection, there are as many watches from so called 'lesser' brands as there are from the likes of Omega, Heuer etc. I buy a watch because it appeals to me, though I always have an eye on its likely resale value as there is always the likelihood of it being moved on one day and I don't want to lose lots of money when that happens.

Am wearing an Aristo Pilots watch today. Probably one of my least expensive watches (below £150 new), but a good looking quality watch.

Nice on green nato. A sensible piece for everyday wear and especially outdoor pursuits. My vote is "sort of OK" although i'd prefer to call it "quite nice actually".

I said "Sort Of" but really quite like it - I almost bought one a few times, and still might. Green or grey Nato, it's good either way. Nice, Gary.
