| Hmm, I think that's one of those designs that I'm going to have to look at for a while to decide where I stand. I have always thought Fortis were somewhat under-rated and I love the B42 chronos so this one piques my curiosity. Are there any other angle shots, wrist shots and dimensions? |

Cheers - Simon

Al, you've hit the nail on the head!
I love the Monaco, but cannot live with the related troubles, (case back, plexi gasket, PRICES!!!! etc.)
(I have owned several Monaco's)
So, I have been looking for a modern version for years.
I have been so close to a Fortis Square (non chrono) several times, but never quite got there as it is not a chrono.
-Seems my wishes have been granted!
-Strap is not my taste, so just imagine it on an ATG perforated!
Small issue............I am not too sure of the price! |

Back from hols over the last two weeks, good to see things here are carrying on apace.
I like it, and I also like Fortis. I know that some people have had "issues", but these seem to date from a while back, and not affect any of the current range.
I like the case, and the pusher angles, and the chunky crown nestled in there - very nice.
It is interesting that they have dished the dial inwards, it looks a little more like a round dial and chapter ring in a square plate than a square dial to me. Monaco dials are at the same level all over, are they not.....?
I just had a further look and it does resemble the B42 Marinemaster Dial. A lot
I am also not the greatest fan of Fortis' up-down arrows round the day-date, which is just one of my little bugbear's with them, as it has become a signature mark of theirs.
If it is the marinemaster dial, this will be one hell of a wrist presence - what size is it?

Good to hear it Alistair; I don't know Harwood, but Fortis should make a nice addition to the site.

The only other Itraco I have come across before was an EBay listing for an Argentine Airforce Chronograph, which had more of a look of the Nivada ChronoKing you currently have.
This one looked invitingly different though.
I think it is a V7750, though in what state of tune or improvement I have no idea.
Cheers

Guy's, I came close to buying that very Itraco around 6 months ago. Price was 650 USD back then. (Same seller!) I had several emails from the guy. -He was very nice indeed. Watch is perfect condition. Case is huge! (22mm lug size).
What stopped me...........I cannot be sure if the case is stainless or base metal under that PVD. (I hate base metal cases as they are very soft!) There is a polished bezel around the plexiglass, so I thought it's stainless. -Then I did some Itraco hunting. Some of their pieces are chrome plated, so I was still unsure. -I walked away in the end.
If you google Itraco, it's quite interesting. They were based in the Industrial part of Switzerland, almost next door to IWC. They were an old small watch company, again with industrial roots. -So the Itraco pedigree sounds good!
I think that if the case had been a true "square" I would have brought it. (Instead of the rectangular shape case).
If anyone here IS interested in the Itraco, don't pay the new asking price! -The seller is a reasonable guy, and you WILL be able to get it for less!
Movement is a Val. 7750
Hope this helps, Gra.
PS. Bell and Ross.......very nice, I love the black and orange limited edition one! However, A/ they are expensive, B/ they are HUGE! |
