ATG Watch Forums

As you will notice my new forum requires you to register.

This, I am afraid, is a sign of the times, Spammers are hitting non-protected forums daily now, and I don't have the time or patience for it so we all will have to register.

The database of contact details marries to my mailer that keeps people updated about things at ATG but if you don't want to be updated please remove yourself from the newsletter or from the confirmation email. ATG will not share the personal details of its forum members with anyone outside of ATG.

ATG Forums Posting Guidelines

The idea of this forum is for people to meet discuss and share ideas about watches. The site is largely for chronograph enthusiasts, but that does not mean that you cannot post about other types of watches just as long as they are interesting in their own way. You may discuss things not related to watches and for these kinds of posts please give the title: OT (this stands for off topic). The new Linde Werdelin Forum will be interesting so have a look there too as I am sure LW owners will appreciate comparative conversations about this startling watch.

I want the forums to be as relaxed as possible so I don't have a list of do's and don'ts and hopefully in this way we will are self-regulating and  a place where people will be allowed to express themselves openly. Most importantly be nice and courteous to other users.

If you are new to forum participation then I would say look at these forums for examples of how a discussion thread operates.

There are various methods for initiating these types of discussions eg. Title: Sink or swim? Good or Rubbish?

That will get some kind of reaction.

On other watch forums asking what people are wearing today is a popular way of getting a reaction from the group.

Posting Pictures

You can upload your photos from your computer using the message attachment boxes, but the file size of your images are limited and must be 250KB or below.

I can however recommend a hosting service. www.imagehostplus.com which is a company I have used for some time. They charge $6 ish a month but the interface is easy and very quick. I have several hundred pictures hosted there at present and they can go up to 1000px X 1000px. They offer the code to drop a shot straight into your text in a post so you can share your pictures easily. I have no affiliation with the operators of this site I have simply found them to be the best.

Alternatively you can insert an image using the straight Script Editor and HTML mode combined.  You can flip between both DESIGN and HTML views for a preview.

1) Your image must be hosted somewhere on the web. You must be aware of the URL link to this image, for example http://www.your_domain.com/your_file/your_photo.jpg

2) You must click into HTML mode (not DESIGN mode) do this by clicking on the HTML tab at the bottom of the body field

3) Type the following code into the Body field in HTML mode

Replacing the PICTUREHERE with your URL link to your photo http://www etc...

4) You can now return to the DESIGN mode and add your comments around your photo and edit your post just like in a word document.

If you have a whole page of HTML please use the HTML mode and not the DESIGN mode.

Editing Your Post

Once you have posted a topic you can edit your post by clicking on the Edit button but you can preview in the script editor.
